The lockplates inset with cocking-indicators, articulated front-trigger, best bouquet and fine scroll engraving with full original hardening-colour, well-figured stock with extension, Gold ‘N’ surmounted by a coronet inlaid in stock in place of oval, the Whitworth-steel chopper-lump barrels with game-rib engraved ‘J. Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London. Made of Sir Joseph Whitworths Fluid Pressed Steel’ & along with the top lever, marked ‘3’. In a brass-mounted oak and leather case for a pair.
Weight 6lb. 3 ¾ oz., 14 9/16 in. pull, 30in. barrels, tight cylinder & modified choke, 2½in. chambers, nitro proof.

A rare single-barrelled rotary-underlever hammergun by C. Moore. Converted from muzzle loading to centrefire in Birmingham in approx. 1868. The action of Damascus steel being of three stages, from 5 flats, half round at the breech through 9 flats, half round to round at the fore-end. Top flat engraved ‘C. MOORE. LONDON’. Jones’ patent 2040 of 1859 Rotary Underlever, the action and lockplate retaining much colour hardening, Rebounding back-action lock after Stanton. The stock with chequered straight hand grip and steel butt plate. The barrel of Damascus steel, marked on the underside ‘JA’ after Joseph Asbury.

28” barrels engraved with scrollwork at the breech end. Broad rib engraved ‘LANG & HUSSEY Ld 182, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.’ and ‘1’. 2 ½” chambers, automatic safety, ‘SAFE’ inlaid in gold, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish. Edged with simple scrollwork. Top lever marked ‘1’. The underside with a cartouche engraved ‘PATENT EJECTORS’
The stock of figured walnut LoP 15 ½” inc well matched extension piece of 1 ¾”, cast off for the right shoulder. Fore-end engraved ‘1’ . The other, No 2, it is believed, being in America.

Chamberless barrels, the tubes engraved ‘WILLIAM FORD. 15 ST. MARY’S ROW. BIRMINGHAM.’, bored approx. full choke in both, large scroll-backed treble-grip action, automatic safety with gold-inlaid ‘SAFE’ detail, border and ‘William Ford’ scroll engraving, bright finish, with blued inset on the underside. Figured semi-pistolgrip stock including 2 ¼ in well-matched extension, with crisp chequering to the butt.

Nicely figured stock with semi-pistol grip, with chequered fore end and grip, the end with ebony cap, ebony buttplate with stag’s head engraving.
